Trevor’s first fitness retreat ever. Here’s why he can’t wait to go back!

Melbourne family man, Trevor booked a solo 10-day fitness retreat with us at Komune Resort in Bali last August 2019. When asked if he wants to book another one in the future, he says, “100% yes”.

“Having now actually had this wonderful experience I don’t think there is a better way to clear your mind and really relax like I did. I will bring my wife or even one of my girls next time knowing what they can expect. If they don’t want to come, I’m happy to be on my own again.” Trevor adds.

We got to talk to him more about his experience and here’s what he has to say:


What made you decide on a wellness focused holiday?

It was a decision made in the spur of the moment after a long day at work, the weather was cold, and I was travelling home on the train at the time. I booked just a month before I went.

As I have become very active in my fitness over the last 18 months, I had a sudden thought to look up fitness retreats in Bali & found Health and Fitness Travel and the Komune Resort.

Did you have a specific goal in mind?


Really my decision was based on a couple of things:
- First and foremost, to relax yet at the same time focus on further enhancing my personal fitness levels
- Get some warm weather and escape from the Melbourne winter
- Destress and clear my mind
Pleased to say all was achieved!!!


Did you learn anything about yourself or new skills/tools to bring home to help you have a healthier life after your retreat?

Absolutely. Having a family of my own (wife and 2 girls 17 & 20) I have never travelled alone or undertaken something a little self-indulgent like this. The people I love were thoroughly supportive, so it made the whole idea of this retreat so much easier to go ahead with. To be alone upon arrival was strange for me but given the atmosphere of the group training sessions at the Komune it was easy to quickly meet like-minded people and yet at the same time have plenty of my own time to chill out. I was provided with a personalised fitness program from Mark at the gym to take back with me to utilise on top of my own personal training also.

Further for the first time in my life I undertook yoga with a very caring instructor Sara who was so helpful in teaching me some of the basics. It is something that I had never considered doing but my program gave me the chance to try it out, which I did and enjoyed. I plan to continue this back home. Finally, the massages were wonderful particularly given I did 9 days straight of group fitness training. The food was also incredibly healthy and having my 3 meals each day included in my package really made things easy for me!


Did you have any reservations about going on a wellness holiday?

None at all. My only suggestion is that should you do something like this, and if you do travel with someone, that you are given the time to utilise all the benefits the program offers. For me it was about the break and fitness and not so much the sightseeing. Ultimately though the flexibility is there should you choose to do that.
