Location Overview

On over 200 hectares of divine rainforest bushland on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Gwinganna is located in the region of the Tallebudgera Valley. Guests will feel miles away from civilisation but in fact they are only a short 30 minute transfer to Coolangatta airport.


Chef Hermann Schafellner is behind the delicious and healthy organic cuisine on offer at Gwinganna, focusing on using quality produce, organic foods and foods with low human intervention (LHI) to provide nourishment and enjoyment with every mouthful. Clean, simple, pure and delicious, all ingredients are kept as close as possible to their natural state, to best retain the flavours and nutritional content. The Gwinganna team are well prepared and experienced to cater to any type of food allergies or intolerances.

    We stayed at Gwinganna for their 3 day `reviver' retreat, and felt revived and relaxed after 3 days of amazing organic food, exercise, treatments, steaming and tai-chi on the hilltop watching the sunrise over the ocean. 

    The food is diverse and delicious with vegetarian options and heathy morning and afternoon tea daily. Gwingana grow some of their own vegetables - all organic and have their own cookbook available in the lobby shop - the quinoa sushi rolls were a favourite!

    Just knowing that there is a place such as this that exists in the world makes me happy. 

    In the future, when I am stressed I'll imagine myself at Gwinganna, doing Qi Gong while watching the sunrise. That experience itself was so overwhelmingly restorative that I just need to conjure up the image in my memory to feel better. I really didn't want to leave, but knew that when returning to my life, I would be a truer version of myself.
